Life Update & Beauty Haul

Hi guysss! So this is a bit of a random post, I have some things I want to tell you and a few beauty products I picked up.

So first off I have hit 200 followers on bloglovin’!! I can’t believe it I only started my blog 10 days ago and to have people following my blog commenting and liking my posts means the world to me. SO THANKYOU!! I hope that my blog does continue to grow and you guys continue to love it.

Next up on Tuesday it was the dreaded results day for Scotland. This year I did another 3 Highers. I needed only one more grade A at higher to get into university. After hounding the postman for my result certificate and a nail biting wait; I received 2 grade A’s and a grade B! Which was so unexpected and I’m delighted this means I’m moving to Edinburgh in a month ahhhhhh! So to celebrate this I went shopping. I picked up some clothes which I will show you on a later post but I also went to Superdrug to pick up a few things.

First off I got a Sleek eye shadow palette, I got the au naturel one. There was about 6 different palettes and were £7.99 each. I have had one before and they are super good quality very pigmented and the colours are beautiful. They have some amazing names like “toast”, “cappuccino” & “honeycomb”. I’m so excited to start using it and like the name the packaging is very sleek.

I then picked up another Maybelline colour tattoo, so overwhelmed with the one I bought a couple of weeks ago which I have used practically everyday, I decided to buy another one. This one is in Permanent Taupe. It’s a matt grey(ish) colour. They advertise that they last 24hours, I’m not quite sure about that since I have never had the need to wear makeup for 24 hours. For £5 I just couldn’t resist.

Next I picked up L’Oreal Paris Super Liner (black) this was a repurchase as my last one run out. What I love about this eyeliner is that it is back, super black! It doesn’t have that navy tint to it which I hate. It is super easy to use and great for cat eyes. It is a mix of liquid and felt tip pen style liner.  A great liner for £6.49.

Lastly I picked up Revlon Colour burst matte balm in Striking Spectacular (240) which is a beautiful matt red. It doesn’t dry my lips out for being matte and lasts a reasonably long time. This was £5.99.

Also guys if you want to see what I get up to during the week or see some selfies ahah follow me on Instagram: @racheelwebster
Lastly I want to say a big thank you to you all for reading & following and please feel free to tell me about what you would like me to post

July Favourites

Whaaaat its July already?? Where does the year go? So today I’m going to talk you through my beauty & random favourites of this month.

First off I have fallen completely back in love with Benefits Watts up highlighter. I have felt I have been reaching for this over my mac highlighters. It's a wind up, roll on highlighter that instantly adds light and glow to the skin. It is a very flattering shade and is easily bendable and I think it’s a beautiful summer product. And let’s be serious how cute is the packaging- it is benefit after all.

Next I have been loving as always my real techniques powder brush. I have a few real techniques brushes and have loved them. Then I purchased the powder brush- and never realised how amazed I could be at a simple makeup brush. Honestly I can’t recommend it enough it evenly applies my powder perfectly over my foundation and doesn’t make it cakey in the slightest.

This month I picked up Maybeline’s Colour tattoo in on and on bronze. I’d heard loads about this product and now I understand why. First off it was £5 which totally surprised me- due to its high quality. It works amazingly as a base for eyeshadow or works just as well by its self for simpler makeup days. This month I have been reaching for this A LOT. I can’t wait to pick up some more shades of this product.

The last makeup product I have been loving this month is L’Oreal Lumi Magique primer.  This primer comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser.  The texture of the product is creamy and it is white in colour and what I really like about this product is that it immediately gives a glowy finish to the skin. It creates a great base for foundation and I really can’t fault this product.

When I was on holiday I accidently left my benefit moisturiser there so when I came home I had to repurchase one as my skin was really drying out. I didn’t have enough money to repurchase benefit Moisturiser so I picked up Olay Complete Care moisturiser. This is definitely the best drug store moisturiser- it completely cleared up my dry skin on my forehead and leaves my skin feeling silky soft.

My favourite hair products this month has been L'Oréal Paris Studio Matt & Messy salt spray. It creates beachy waves without using heat and was my saviour when I was on holiday. It’s shine free which leaves your hair looking matt and doesn’t leave it feeling greasy which I feel many hair products do. I just apply to my hair when damp then scrunch my hair and Voila beach waves.

I’ve been a huge passenger fan for a few years so was super excited when he brought out his new album “Whispers” in June. I love every track- and each song has a beautiful story which Mikes signs beautifully. My favourites are “27” and “Riding to New York.”  I would describe the album as indie rock with a soft edge. Check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbqjD3rQcMs

My favourite YouTube channel this month has been https://www.youtube.com/user/sunbeamsjess I only recently found her channel and have been binge watching all her videos. I love her fashion sense and her simple makeup looks.

Hope you enjoyed this post. What have been your July favourites?

The Liebster Award

I have been nominated by the lovely  Jenny and Emma I was also nominated by Chloe

Thankyou very much for my nomination ladies <3

For those of you who haven’t heard of The Liebster Award it’s an award that is past from blogger to blogger to help them receive more exposure. (Each blogger has to have under 200 followers to be nominated.)

The rules are very simple:
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you, and link back to them.
  • Answer the questions they sent you.
  • Nominate 11 bloggers with under 200 followers to answer your own set of questions. I looked at the followers on Bloglovin'.
  • Notify these 11 bloggers who nominated them.

Here are my answers to the questions I was asked:
1. Why did you start blogging? I have always had an interest in beauty and loved reading bloggers blogs and watching their YouTube videos, so decided I would start a blog jam packed with all my favourite things.

2. If you could meet one celebrity who would it be? Ahhh can I only pick one. A Kardashian it has to be I’m totally obsessed with their looks and there shows. So probably Kim, id also hope the rest of the fam was there too though.

3. What is your favourite make up brand? It has to be MAC hands down I just can’t get enough.

4. If you could only ever wear one item of make up what would it be? That’s so difficult id have to say foundation to cover up any blemishes and make my skin look flawless.

5. What high street store is your favourite? Topshop for sure.

6. Chocolate or sweets? I’m defiantly a sweet person.

7. What blog if your current favourite to read? http://velvet-ghost.blogspot.co.uk/ I love gabbys blog and her youtube channel so much.

8. What would you spend £100,000 on? A whole new wardrobe and lots and lots of makeup.

9. Personality or looks? Personality every time. I could never be with someone who looked amazing but was boring and didn’t want to have any fun. I do love big personalities.

10. What is your most embarrassing moment? Ah there is so many times to choose from. I have a bad habit of saying really embarrassing things. But at a Halloween party I had a little bit too much to drink and was sick all over my best friend. And she still talks to me now- what a good friend.

I nominate:

My Top 5 Beauty Must Haves

Hi guys, today I am going to share with you my top 5 must have beauty products. Let me know what you think in the comments below and what other posts you would like to see me do.

1Rimmel wake me up foundation (£8.99)
This is my Holy Grail foundation I absolutely love it. First of the packaging is simple but pretty. The bottle is made out of glass but the lid and pump are made from plastic. The pump is very easy to work with and secures little mess or wastage.
Being so very pale skinned I have found it very difficult to find a foundation that doesn’t make me look like a giant wotsit. However the Rimmel wake me up ( I have in the lightest shade) matched my skin perfectly giving it a beautiful glow.
I would say its medium coverage which is ideal for daily use, it leaves skin feeling smooth and not to cakey. The reason I am so impressed with this product is its staying power. I always wear with a powder and the foundation just doesn’t budge. And for its reasonable price this is rare. I apply this with my real techniques blending brush.

2. MAC Mineralize Skinfinishish (£22.00)
The MAC Mineralise Skinfinish range tends to be aimed at those wishing for a natural but effective setting powder. I use it all over the top of my foundation to set it and help it stay on all day! And it works wonders. Ever since I started using this have noticed a huge improvement in the lasting power of my foundation- which ever foundation I use that day. A positive of it having low coverage is the fact that it really lets your foundation be seen and doesn't mask it, it doesn’t take away the glow that my foundation and primers create. However it is very pricy for a powder, but personally I think it’s worth the money as its amazing and I have had mine for well over a year using it almost every day and haven’t hit pan yet. I apply it with Real techniques powder brush which is also AMAZING!! I have mine in medium plus.

3. MAC Mineralize Blush ( In Warm Soul) (£20.00)
This has to be my all-time favourite blush. Another product mac really knows how to do. I have several mac blushes and they are all incredible: they are very pigmented, have about 393923 colours to choose from and you get allot of product and I have never hit pan on any of them. Warm soul is my favourite shade, it is a deep pink with gold undertones making it a beautiful colour. It has a hint of shimmer in it, which when applied to face makes your skin glow even more. Of course this is also very expensive but I do again think it’s worth the money.  I apply with benefit blusher brush.

      4.    Benefit Browzings (24.50)
I am brow crazy! I love everything about them and I think they really are the most important thing on your face and they really sculpt your face. Brow Zings comes in 3 shades: Dark, Medium and Light. The Brow zings kit comes with a pigmented wax & a shading and setting powder it also contains a miniature angled brush ( I lost mine but I have inserted a picture I stole of google) to use with the wax, a miniature blending brush to use with the powder and they also come with a miniature set of tweezers . The angled brush it came with is great to apply the product and I used this for a few months with no problem but decided to upgrade to the mac 208, which made it slightly easier as it’s longer but this isn’t a necessity. This product is a wax, which I am aware isn’t everybody’s favourite but I think this product is far better than a pencil or eye shadow. It is super easy to use and leaves a wonderful look.  The wax lasts all day and leaves your bows looking perfect. If you are struggling to get a good brow shape I recommend going to a benefit brow bar (in most Debenhams’ and house of Frasers) and getting a wax. Its £11 which can be quite pricey but it’s so worth it even if you go and get it once and keep the shape yourself by plucking. They are super friendly and create a beautiful arch in your brows.

      5.  Benefit They’re Real Mascara (£19.50)
This is the UK’s number 1 selling mascara and I understand why. It creates super long and black eyelashes in just a few strokes.  The mascara comes in a silver tube and of course being a benefit product the packaging is beautiful.  The wand and the bristles are made from a hard plastic, and the bristles on the end of the wand are longer and look a bit like spikey ball – this is to help get into the corners and to ‘wing out’ your outer lashes easier.  . The formulation of this mascara is absolutely amazing. It’s not too ‘wet’ or sticky and it applies evenly through the lashes. I think its defiantly worth the price and using almost every day lasts me about 9 months- which I think is pretty good.

A Little Bit About Me

helllllllllo! I'm Rachel im 18 and im from Glasgow in Scotland. Sounds scarily like an online dating profile (FYI i do like long romantic walks on the beach.) I've just finished high school and I have decided that it's time i followed up on my dream to start a blog. My blog will manily be beauty (hence the name thebeautebook which is beauty in french! fancy i know) however it will inlude the occasional fashion and lifestyle twist. I'm hoping over the next months my blog will grow and devlop into something that many will enjoy reading & will be pretty to look at too. If you have any suggestions or comments or generally anything to say post it down below.

A little about me: I'm currently in a cross roads in my life where I'm trying to figure out what I want to do! I've received a conditional offer to study for four years at The university of Edinburgh which will begin in September. I'm make-up mad, loving everything from mac to max factor. I love watching youtube videos & reading other bbloggers blogs! I spent the last 6 years of my life studying acting as well as academic school! I appeared as an extra on Waterloo road and river city regularly, but as much as I enjoyed it the acting industry just isn't for me! I see myself as a bit of a partier and love nothing more than getting all dolled up and having a night out in the town.

I hope this can be the start of a beautiful & wonderful thing.

Thanks all see ya in the next post ❤️
